Adro Sarnelli, the inspirational winner of Australia's first Biggest Loser series who dropped a staggering 51 kilograms from his original 136.5 kg frame takes time out to discuss his passion for weight loss and helping others achieve their goals. His amazing journey has inspired many and proves that Australians looking to shed the kilos can keep the weight off. Q. What advice would you give those who are truly committed to losing weight?
A. I would suggest that first you start to believe in yourself, then find something that works for you: a piece of equipment or someone who can tailor a program for you; Make sure that it is something you can and will stick to, so there is less chance of you getting over it or bored. The last thing I would say is that if you are able to do it with a buddy, grab some equipment from your local Workout World store and start committing yourselves to good exercise. Make sure that they (your buddy) are there for you when you're not in the mood and that you can motivate each other and push them when they may not be in the mood.

Q. Which fitness equipment did you start with and currently using in your training schedule?
A. During my time on The Biggest Loser I was lucky enough to be introduced to the Precor Elliptical cross trainers and treadmills and Avanti strength equipment. They are awesome products and really got me on track and the quality was amazing. Since the show I have used Cardiogym which has been a big part of my training and in turn my clients who come to change their lives at my weight loss retreat, The New Me.

Q. Is that what is keeping you busy these days?
A. By far the greatest thing I am doing at the moment, is having The New Me open. The New Me is my very own Biggest Loser-style weight loss retreat. We have taken everything I have learned and experienced during and since The Biggest Loser and incorporated it into a weight loss program for all Australians to attend. My team and I are all certified trainers.

We use my philosophies of eat smart, move more, think thin and allow people to learn all of the weight loss lessons I have learned and lose rapid weight - enough to ensure that by the time they leave The New Me they have enough motivation and momentum to continue on with their weight loss journey. At The New Me we really focus on the personal development which allows us to tackle weight loss with a holistic approach.

Q. Can people achieve the big weight drops the show is renowned for?
A. For sure. Using what I learned and what I was exposed to in the Biggest Loser house is the key to it’s success. Improving your diet and using quality fitness equipment is the key to achieving your goals of improved health, weight loss and the way you want you r body to look.

We average about 11.2 kgs per visit We are averaging 3.5kg weight loss per week per person. Our biggest losers so far are: Male 13.3kg in 2 weeks, Female 11.2kg in 2 weeks. I am very proud of the results we are getting at the new me.

Q. What advice do you give Australians who are looking to buy home fitness equipment?
A. I would recommend buying pieces of equipment that you know you will, and can, use. The Workout World products are all fantastic quality, well priced and from respected brands. I often encourage clients to replace their lounge chairs with treadmills or upright bikes so that they can continue to watch their TV but do something productive at the same time! There are some brilliant home and commercial options at your local Workout World store and I can vouch for the quality from my experience in the house and now with our equipment we have at The New Me.
